Social Emotional Learning (SEL) at Cardinal Forest
What is SEL?
Social and Emotional Learning is the process of learning to understand and manage emotions through 5 key areas: self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. When children become competent in these areas, they are better about to show empathy for others, maintain positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and set and achieve goals.
At Cardinal Forest, we believe that SEL is the cornerstone for student growth and achievement. We infuse SEL principles into the school day through modeling, explicit instruction, and community building activities.
