Fifth Grade is an exciting year in elementary school!  There is a lot of interesting subject material to learn; fascinating information within the science unit, engaging experiments, how to solve real-life problems with basic and more complex math skills, exploring ancient civilizations, and delving deeper into good thinking strategies in reading and how to write a well-developed and detailed essay!  Students in fifth grade begin to show their independence with executive functioning skills as well as collaboration with tasks such as the Global Awareness Technology Project.  In conjunction with the content, students also practice routines and procedures and other components of Portrait of a Graduate that help them develop strong study habits that they'll carry with them through middle school, high school, and beyond.
